Dr. Sangita Murali was born in Ohio and raised in Massachusetts. She attended Deerfield Academy where she played tennis for her high school’s team and competed in the United States Tennis Association (USTA). She went on to pursue her undergraduate studies at Bates College where she continued to play collegiate level tennis, club ice hockey. At Bates, Dr. Sangita majored in neuroscience and concentrated in applied mathematics and public health. Her undergraduate thesis focused on associations between Multiple Sclerosis, Vitamin D and memory retrieval. Dr. Sangita obtained her Master’s in Biomedical Sciences from Tufts University School of Medicine and Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. At Tufts, Dr. Sangita was a recipient of a four-year research scholarship which also allowed her to travel to Munich, Germany and conduct her dental materials research at 3M prior to her final year of dental school. At Tufts, she was also actively involved in the American Association of Women Dentists local and national chapters. She received multiple recognitions for her academic excellence, breadth of research and dental skills. Dr. Sangita went on to pursue her dream of providing highly personalized orthodontic care to patients of all ages by completing her orthodontics residency at the Georgia School of Orthodontics. Her research during her orthodontic residency training focused on esthetic preferences of several smile components across diverse ethnic and racial populations.
Dr. Sangita loves being part of the Family Braces *family* and each patient’s journey towards finding their best smile. She strongly believes that a smile an individual is proud of can empower them not only to reach their dreams but to build so much confidence, individuals shoot far beyond the wildest of them.
Her professional affiliations include the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), the American Dental Association (ADA), the Southern Association of Orthodontics (SAO), and the Georgia Association of Orthodontics (GAO). She was nominated and inducted as a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, American College of Dentists and American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Sangita has been recognized by the Indian Medical Association of New England as one of the Top 20 Women in New England (2018) and has been published in multiple reputable research journals.
Dr. Sangita enjoys traveling, adventure and any activities involving the ocean or water. In her spare time, she can be found working out, playing tennis, ice hockey, golf with her day one driving buddy (her dad) or cooking a new fusion dish with her husband and friends (who like Dr. Sangita are also foodies who love to eat).
